Cherry Tree Shoppe

Once a month I teach at the Cherry Tree Shoppe in Cherry Valley, CA.  I love the ladies that come and share with me.  I try to teach 4 projects a month.  This month was a huge success.  Wait till you see what I did!  I can't decide which card I like best.

My first card is a 6 x 12 base card folded in half.  I used Close to My Heart papers as they are double sided heavy cardstock quality.  I first set a triangle piece of paper in the upper left hand corner for the base.  I then added 1/8 piece of a 10"doily.  The red print paper is Close to My Heart which I folded...it's a gentle fold...not all the way down.  I put a couple pop dots under the fold to keep it rounded.  I used a Close to My Heart pearl as an added embellishment.  The banner was cut from Close to My Heart Cricut cartridge Art Philosophy antiqued and stamped in Pear ink from CTMH.  The flower punches are 4 different sizes of Carl's punches and I used a copic pen to outline each petal.  The leaves were punched from EK Success and Punch a Bunch punches.   Each flower was rolled and shaped using the McGill stylist and soft mat, then assembled.  In the center of each flower, I placed a Starform sticker dot.  While I was teaching this class, I decided to add faux stitching in white around the edges of the red printed paper.  (The stitching is not shown in this picture)

In the next card, I wanted to teach the blending and masking techniques.  The base card is a red Core'dinations Pearl paper 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 folded in half.  I added a white background piece of paper.  Then we placed a 1 1/4 round mask on a glossy piece of paper to represent the moon.  Then going from light to dark, I blended CTMH Buttercup, Honey, Sorbet, Sunset and Hollyhock inks using a soft sponge.  The birds flying are stamped in Hollyhock using a Stampscapes stamp and the feather stamp is from Stampers Anonymous....I remember buying it from Tim Holtz before he was really big.  It's hard to see in this picture, but I also stamped Dream in the lower right hand corner again using Hollyhock ink.

My third card is a tri-fold card.  I used all Close to My Heart paper, inks and stamps.   Start with a card base of 5 ½ x 12”  On the 12” side, Score at 2”, 4”, 8”, 10”.  Turn cardstock to the       5 ½" side and position it in the trimmer at the 1 ½ mark.  Cut from the 2” score line to the 10” score line.  Turn paper over and make the same cut on the other side.  Fold the first score line as a mountain, alternate valley and mountain folds at the 4” and 8” score lines. The CTMH Chantilly paper is double sided and both sides of the paper was used here, double matted using Twilight cardstock and antiqued using Twilight ink.  The Cotton Candy pink flower, Buttercup yellow flower and Happy Birthday banner were first cut using the CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge then stamped.   The Cotton Candy pink flower and Twilight Butterfly were stamped first then cut to shape.  A CTMH sentiment was stamped in the center panel.  The pink ribbon was attached to the double mat prior to be glued in place.  A Craft works CANDi dot was pop dotted in the center of the daisy.  The daisy, Happy Birthday sentiment and butterfly were pop dotted in place.

My last card is a center step card.   Start with a card base of 5 ¾ x 11.  Place the long side in the trimmer at the 1” mark and cut from 1” – 6.5”.  Turn over and cut the other side the same way.  Placing the 11” side on the scoreboard  score from the edge of the paper to the cut line at the 1”, 2” and 6.5” marks.  Turn over and do the same on the other side.  Then score between the 2 cuts at the 5.5” mark.  I used paper from my stash for the side panels and center panel.  The center panel is embossed using my sizzix big shot and a cuttlebug folder.  I used the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cartridge to make the girls, hair, clothes, hat and sunglasses.  I used the Beep Beep Cricut cartridge to make the car.  To finish it off, I used a red and white gel pen for their mouths and the white gel pen for the tire treads.  I used perfect pearls for their necklaces, bracelets and earrings.  The card sentiment was typed in my computer and cut to size.  The car and girls are pop dotted for an added dimension.

Let's Scrap Blog Around the World Day 14

This is the last day for me on the Let's Scrap Leap Around the World Blog Hop....here are the last 5 of the 50 cards I made this month.  Whew.  This was a lot of fun and I'm going to miss going on the site everyday.  So let's begin:

Card 46 is made with glitter and stickers.  On the flower sticker, you take off a section at a time and add the glitter from dark to light.  So, I took off all the sections of the dark green first...then glittered that...next the brown, etc.  You use double sided glue sheets and they are heavy duty so the glitter just shines.  This technique uses little glitter, but you will have it all over you for a couple of days and all over your craft room for weeks.  I just love this glitter and play with it as often as I can.

Card 47 uses the same vinyl stickers as card 46, but this time I didn't glitter it in.  I placed the sticker on a piece of acetate and filled in the back with alcohol ink.  The papers and ribbon are from my stash.

Card 48 uses scrap paper and a stamp from Outlines.  Take a moment to check them out.  I love their stamps and they are so original and clever in showing you how to use them...a lot of layering.  Here I colored the hearts and flowers with alcohol ink.  I made 3 stamps of the heart and layered it with pop dots.  I added liquid glass in the center of the flowers and liquid pearls all over the heart.

I make cards and send them to the troops through Mothers Cookies - a group of women that send out packages every single month.  These cards go to the troops for their use.  Something to write in and send home.  I used sizzix dies to cut the flower and pocket, a Close To My Heart stamp for the stitching and a wood stamp I had for the sentiment.  Stickles were used to add a little bling to the flowers.

My last card is a card I made for my mother.  I used the masking technique.  First I stamped the House Mouse onto the paper.  Then I covered it with another image of the same stamp and cut out.  Then I stamped the Close To My Heart band-aid all over the card...then filled in the spaces with another CTMH stamp.  I used water color pencils to color the mice and hearts.  I finished this card by using my black writer to write the words Get W....on the mouse's tail.

Let's Scrap Blog Around the World Day 13

Well I have been asked to go over step by step the use of alcohol inks so tomorrow I will be spending the day playing to come up with some good pictures.  Today, is all about the Let's Scrap Leap Around the World Blog and I have 5 more cards to post.

I turned sketch 41 on it's side and decided that the layering looked like steps so I made this three step card from a 5 1/4" x 10 1/2" piece of double sided cardstock.  I first scored 3/4" on each of the long sides then I turned my paper and scored at 2 5/8", 5 1/4", 7", 8 5/8" and 9 1/2". I took my x-acto knife and cut on the 3/4" scoreline from the 2 5/8" score to the 9 1/2" score line and did my valley and mountain folds.  The stamp and the sentiment are CTMH and the flowers are from Heartfelt Creations.  I stamped them in 3 colors to match my paper, cut them out and cupped the petals using my 8 mm McGill stylus.   Then I pop-dotted them to the steps of the card.  My flower lady was colored with copic markers to match the paper.

The hardest part about this sketch was the measurement of each piece.  I visualized this 6" x 6" card in quarters, then started with the 1" x 3" piece in the lower right hand side and worked from there.  I used all pink scraps.  One - the sketch was in pink and Two - pink is my favorite color.  After I figured out all the dimensions, I reduced them by 1/16" on each side so you could see the black.   The sentiment is another CTMH stamp.

Card 43 I made the day I was playing with my Ranger alcohol inks. This is caramel and latte on plain white cardstock.  It really uses a lot of ink.  The stamp and sentiment are mounted wood block stamps and I'm no longer sure where I got them.  The flourish is a sizzix die.  The bottle layer piece is pop-dotted.

This card uses Close To My Heart paper and stamps.  Well the girl and the hearts are CTMH.  The sentiment is a block stamp.  I used 3 heart eyelets to complete the simple detail.

I turned sketch 45 into a waterfall card.  You pull the ribbon at the bottom down and the scallops flip up and slide under the horizontal strip until you see the last sentiment.  This was fun to make.  Later this week, I will give you all the details and add some additional pictures so you can make this card yourself.   For basics, it is a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card.  I used my marvy scalloped punch and oval punch to make the 4 sentiments.  The CTMH ribbon is tied at the bottom and I used an extra circle to reinforce the paper.


Well I have 5 cards left before the end of the month.  It's been fun making so many cards and my house has suffered.  I'll be glad to get back to scrapbooking.

Let's Scrap Blog Around the World Day 5

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting me.  This is day 5 of card making for me and I have 3 more cards to show you from the Let's Scrap sketches.

This card was made from scraps I had.  I used the Tim Holtz Rosette die and the Sizzix side kick.  The zig zag stitching is the Sew Happy stamp from Close to My Heart.  The paper lace is a Martha Stewart punch and the rub on is also from my stash.

Card 13 is my Valentine's Day card for my hubby.  His favorite color is blue.  He keeps asking me to put my blog on his favorites but I have to wait a few more days.  HEHEHEHE.  The paper here is from Quick Quotes.  I used the Plantin School Book Cricut cartridge to make the rick rack.  The stamps are from CTMH Mad About You and I used CTMH Indian Corn Blue ink.  The ribbon is also CTMH.  I'm a consultant for CTMH so have a lot of it.  I love that their inks, papers, ribbons and embellishments all match.

This is a simple card to make.  The papers are from my scraps.  I used the Cricut Elegant Edges cartridge and a sticker from a Pine Cone Press card kit.  I used a CTMH writer for the black ink work. And, that's it.  Fourteen cards completed and soooo many more to do.  Leave a comment and let me know what you think...

Let's Scrap Blog Around the World Day 2

Well hubby let me spend a lot of my time in my craft room and I was able to complete 4 more cards...that's 6 completed out of the 50 I need to do to complete the entire blog...Whew!  So....

The top card was completed with Lasting Impression paper, a Sizzix embossing folder and a Memory Box die.  Card 2 uses double stick tape and a lot of glitter.  The center of the flowers are Copic Markers.  In card 3 I used paper from my scraps and a flower punch.  Card 4 uses Quick Quote papers and a stamp from Putting on the Ritz.  All the cards from this blog are from sketches on each of the hosts blogs.  What a fun blog.  You should try it!

Let's Scrap Blog Around the World Day 1

Well I completed my first two leaps and completed two of my 50 cards.

Card 1 uses DCWV papers and a Sizzix/Hero Arts Die with stamp.  These are new and I just purchased my first one.  You stamp first then position your die to cut around the stamped object.  I own the Big Shot and it worked perfectly.


I picked up a paper and cardstock kit at the Embellish It 15 hour crop that I attended in January.  Not sure the paper line but it was fun putting the second card together for the hop.  The actual sketch called for only 2 embellishments, but I just had to use the third pinwheel.
